Rise Challenge

Rise is a program that finds promising young people and provides opportunity for life as they work to serve others. The program starts at ages 15–17 and encourages a lifetime of service and learning by providing support that includes need-based scholarships, mentorship, networking, access to career development opportunities, and the potential for additional funding as Rise Global Winners work toward solving humanity’s most pressing problems. Each application year, Rise invites 15-17 year olds from around the world to participate in the Rise Challenge. Unlike many traditional applications, Rise uses videos, projects, and group interviews so applicants have multiple opportunities to showcase their potential. For applicants without access to technology, we offer an alternative paper application pathway.

UNESCO Aotearoa Youth Leader

UNESCO Aotearoa is currently inviting applications from youth aged between 18 and 25 to join the UNESCO Aotearoa Youth Leader whānau. The group consists of young leaders who serve as advisors to the National Commission, connectors to their own community and ambassadors of UNESCO’s work. The successful candidates will advise the National Commission on a number of issues and engage in initiatives that align with the National Commission’s priority areas. These include: Sustainable, Resilient and Regenerative Communities; Indigenous Knowledge and the UN Decade of Indigenous Language; Oceans for the Wellbeing of People and the Planet; and Freedom of Expression; as well as UNESCO programmes including Global Geoparks, Memory of the World and the Creative Cities Network.

UN Habitat Youth Advisory Board

UN-Habitat is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2023-2025 UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board (YAB)! About the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board: The Youth Advisory Board is a consultative body that provides valuable insights and recommendations to UN-Habitat on strategies to sustainable urban development. Established in 2008, the YAB has played a crucial role in mainstreaming youth perspectives and promoting youth participation in UN-Habitat’s programs and major events. Now, in its latest term, the YAB is seeking passionate and dedicated youth to join its ranks. The board will have representation from each of UN-Habitat’s six regions and a commitment to equal gender representation. The UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board is co-hosted by the Balikesir Metropolitan Municipality (Türkiye), host of World Habitat Day in 2022. The IOM Global Youth Ambassador Initiative

The The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Youth Ambassador Initiative aims to strengthen youth voices and provide a platform for youth as agents of change in the field of migration. By amplifying youth voices, promoting safe, orderly and regular migration, and fostering youth-inclusive policies, the initiative seeks to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for all. The Migration Youth Ambassadors will work closely with IOM for a period of one year to advocate for safe, orderly, dignified and inclusive migration, including on climate mobility, human trafficking, xenophobia and health and to empower young people in their communities to participate in dialogues on migration and related issues.

If you have an interest in international relations and would like to learn more about the United States, the U.S. Embassy in New Zealand is looking for students and young professionals to join their 2023 Youth Council Program. As a participant, you will have a voice and contribute to group discussions, participate in community and/or volunteer programs to promote civil society, and have the potential to take part in a virtual exchange program. You will have the chance to connect with U.S. experts, dignitaries, and officials from a variety of fields, as well as like-minded local students and young professionals. 3 KAPU KAWHE™ Mentee Application

3 Kapu Kawhe™ is a short-term mentoring programme that pairs ethnically diverse young leaders in the formative years of their careers (mentees) with experienced New Zealand executives and directors (mentors) for three life-changing conversations. Mentees pay it forward by having three cups of coffee with a student leader in tertiary education or their final year of high school (student mentee). MENTEES: Highly-ambitious and promising young leaders from ethnically diverse backgrounds who are in the early stages of their professional leadership careers. To be eligible, you must: Be between the ages of 18 and 35; – Have a minimum of three years of full-time professional work experience (preference may be given to those above the age of 25, and/or individuals with experience in management, people leadership or subject matter expertise); – Identify as Māori, Asian, Pacific and/or Minority Ethnicity (MAPME); and – Be a Full or Associate MYLN Member, work at a MYLN Corporate Impact Investor organisation, or have recently applied to become a Full or Associate MYLN.

3 KAPU KAWHE™ Student Mentee Applications

3 Kapu Kawhe™ is a short-term mentoring programme that pairs ethnically diverse young leaders in the formative years of their careers (mentees) with experienced New Zealand executives and directors (mentors) for three life-changing conversations. Mentees pay it forward by having three cups of coffee with a student leader in tertiary education or their final year of high school (student mentee), creating a ripple effect that supports the development of young, diverse leaders across multiple generations STUDENT MENTEES: Student leaders in tertiary education or their final year of high school who identify as Māori, Asian, Pacific and/or Minority Ethnicity (MAPME) and have current and/or previous student leadership experience.
